I’m back with pictures and updates from this week. No day is identical to the last, but of course there are a lot of similarities between the days. My husband and I have been out walking with the boys a lot this week. After Emerson’s midmorning feeding, we’ve been hitting the road and trails with the boys in their strollers. My husband has been pushing the jogger with the baby and I’ve been pushing Sage in the umbrella stroller. It’s been a hot week here so getting out in the morning is a must. We live in a community with many trails and playgrounds and Sage has been having a lot of fun on all the slides. Having my husband home in the mornings has been so wonderful because taking care of a baby and busy toddler keeps you on your toes.
Sometimes I coordinate nap times perfectly and other times Emerson is up before Sage or goes down earlier. Depends on the day, but generally they are both sleeping for at least an hour at the same time. I then shove food in my face and sit on the couch before deciding whether laundry has to be tackled that day or not. The kitchen always needs a good cleaning by mid afternoon and I feel better when at least that’s done. I’ll admit I’m really bad at napping when the boys do, but I do make a point to relax.
On Tuesday during nap time I was feeling particularly ambitious and I decided to do my hair. I haven’t colored it in well over a year and I wanted to brighten it. Makes me happy to have it lighter for summer and the slight change is nice. I actually put on a little makeup too after doing my hair. Craziness! That night we met a friend and her kids who Sage went to daycare with at the playground and they had a blast. My eyes started watering as Sage gave the kids a big hug when he saw them. It’s been a month since they’ve seen each other so it was really sweet.
We’ve been drinking lots of shakes and smoothies over here. I’ll often make one with Shakeology at breakfast and then a Green Monster smoothie (from Oh She Glows cookbook) for a snack later on. Sage totally loved the Green Monster smoothie which made me so happy because it has kale in it and other good stuff like chia seeds, peanut butter and banana. Getting a two year old to eat a varied diet has proven to be tricky at times so I did a happy dance as Sage slurped the smoothie down.
On Wednesday Emerson had an appointment. The appointment itself was super quick, but getting downtown, parking in the garage, and walking to the office took more time. I’m just grateful he passed the hearing test and did such a great job during it. He slept the whole car ride home too. Thank you, Emerson!!
Dinners these days are either something off the grill, Chipotle, or Chinese. Grilling never gets old though and it’s quick to prep. I have not opened a cookbook and have no plans to for a bit. Super simple dinners are where it’s at.
Is it really hot out by you?
How’s your week?
