Another month has gone by with our cute baby boy. It has been a very good month with little E. We’ve gotten much more into a routine. Emerson is growing like a weed and showing us his beautiful smile on the daily now. I started working from home part-time this month and he has been my little sidekick. Some days he did me the favor of taking long naps and other days he spent more time babbling next to me in his MamaRoo or on his mat. I love having his company! (Side note: Sage has started going to daycare two days a week so we can ease into things again before I go back to work full-time). Onto Emerson’s two month update!
Likes: Emerson is one happy babe. He really enjoys going on walks in his stroller. In fact he’s happy pretty much anywhere in his car seat carrier. I think he must like the snugness of it or something because he’ll just chill outside in it too. His favorite toy is the MamaRoo where he kicks and (almost) swats at the mobile. He loves being in his parents arms and having our full attention. He smiles so big now.
Eating: Emerson eats every 1-3 hours during the day. At night he has been going much longer stretches (between 6-9 hours) so I happily feed him as much as he wants during the day. He has taken a bottle a few times this month, but it’s definitely something we need to work on.
Sleeping: Emerson’s naps are still a bit all over the place. He needs a morning, midday and late afternoon nap, but they vary in length. Sometimes he naps for two hours and sometimes he’s up after 30 minutes. He naps mostly in his crib, but loves a good car nap if we’re out and about. His bedtime is between 7:30-8pm. Emerson has been sleeping a 6-9 hour stretch first, getting up to eat, and then typically going back to sleep for another 1-2 hours. So proud of him!! He rocks the swaddle and sleeps in his crib. He’s totally showing off because his brother didn’t sleep this well for the better part of a year. He does have trouble going back to sleep after that feeding sometimes. I’ll watch him on the monitor looking around from side to side, but usually within 20 minutes he’s out. He’s not upset, just awake from the feeding and diaper change. It’s probably my fault because sometimes I talk to him too much. I see his smile and even though it’s 4am I can’t help it.
Playing: The MamaRoo and playmat are his jam. He’s much more alert and really into looking at the hanging toys. He gets excited and will squeal. His joyful outburst makes Sage laugh.
Highlights: This month Emerson has been all over town. He went to the NYS Fair with us and slept almost the entire time. He also drank a little bit of a bottle there which rocked for mama. He’s been to Chipotle numerous times because it is our favorite dinner spot. He joined us at Wegmans for our weekly grocery shopping trip. I took Sage and Emerson alone to the grocery store this month which went great. There wasn’t much room for food in the cart, but that is besides the point.
I packed away all the newborn clothes this month. Emerson is in size 3 month clothes, but some of those are getting snug. He has his two month appointment later this week.
We love you so much, Emerson! Next month brings some big changes with me going back to work, but I’ll take it in stride. At least it’s becoming autumn (the best season!).
How’s your month been?
