Another month has flown by and I haven’t gotten any other posts up, but that’s just the way it goes. Life this very full right now, but I’ve been determined to get this update done.
Emerson turned five months old last weekend! He is a happy, go-with-the-flow, even tempered little guy. As long as big brother is around, he is happy just to sit and watch him.
I think part of Emerson’s laid-back personality is the fact that my husband and I are much more relaxed this time around. If I’m ever feeling stressed with trying to “balance it all”, I quickly relax in Emerson’s presence because he just radiates happiness. That’s not to say that he won’t express himself if he is hungry or wants your attention. He certainly knows how to make himself known.
This month Emerson has spent more time in his chair rather than swing. He loves to chew on toys here and be wherever we are. He joins us in the kitchen, family room, everywhere around the house…he loves to watch us all interact. Sage is the favorite and Emerson lights up when Sage comes into his line of sight.
We’ve made progress in the sleep department. Emerson started sleeping in his crib (again) at night. He had been back in the rock n’ play for a time because he was congested and the incline helped. Now in the crib he’s rolling over onto his belly and sleeps that way. This month he was waking up 1-2 times in the night and it varied in times. Two nights ago he went to bed at 7pm and didn’t wake up til 3am, then went back to sleep until 6:30am. Last night he slept through the night! When he eats in the night, he’s been then going right back to sleep.
Naps are all over the place at daycare – he’s a complete catnapper. At home on the weekend though he’ll take close to a two hour morning nap and another 1-2 shorter ones later on. Sometimes after daycare he’ll take a bottle and then nap for an hour and then go back to sleep for bedtime at 7pm.
Emerson eats (drinks really) seven(ish) 4-6 oz bottles each day. I’ve just been keeping to my pumping schedule at work and at home. He drinks mainly breast milk and I supplement with Earth’s Best formula as needed. My supply took a dip when I began dealing with vertigo issues from an ear/sinus infection about a month ago. Emerson doesn’t mind the formula at all though and happily drinks it.
See you next month (but hopefully I’ll post again on other stuff sooner).
