This is how it goes with kiddo #2. Baby updates are harder to make happen. My last Emerson update was when he was 5 months old and then life sped by and I totally missed getting up six and seven months, but I’m not ready to jump right to 8 months, so here I am!
Emerson is happiness. That’s the best way to describe him. He just radiates joy. Except when I’m wiping his nose or cleaning his face because then he gets super mad at me. He is just a go-with-the-flow little man. Sage is his favorite person. It doesn’t matter what Sage is doing either, his presence is just incredible in Emerson’s eyes. Emerson totally is going to do whatever Sage tells him to do, I just know it.
Emerson started some real foods about a month ago. He loves his greens. Spinach, peas, green beans are the favorites. He still takes more bottles than food. I give the sitter four 7 oz. bottles for during the day and he generally takes another 1-2 while home with us. He’s a growing dude! As of this week he’s weighing in at 17 pounds 6 oz and he’s tall, like 90th percentile tall.
Emerson is sitting on his own now and we just had to lower the crib. We figured that would be a smart choice when we witnessed him trying to pull himself up to stand at Sage’s play table. Oh boy! He’ll army crawl to where ever he wants to get to and can get up on all fours, but hasn’t really attempted to crawl that way. He’ll stand at Sage’s play table for a longgg time. There’s about a million trains on it so it provides hours of entertainment. My husband and I chatted how at this age I think Sage just had a play mat. The second child really does get lucky in many ways.
Emerson sleeps through the night some nights and gets up 1-2 times others. Bedtime is always between 6:45-7pm and baby boy is ready for it. We do bath every other night, get the diffuser going, put on his pajamas, rock in the chair, and he drinks his bottle. Most nights he falls asleep in my arms and I love it. Other nights if he’s not quite sleeping, I’ll lay him in his crib and he’ll often just fall asleep on his own. He still eats in the night although sometimes I think it is out of wanting comfort. No teeth yet, but I think they are working their way through. Lately he’s been sleeping until between 4-5am, feeding, and then gone back to sleep for an hour or so. A few mornings he was ready to go for the day at 5:15am. GOOD MORNING, Mom!
Emerson’s favorite toys are anything that’s Sage’s and he can put in his mouth. He tends to have a teether in his hands at all times. He likes his play chair, but more often now he just wants to be on the floor exploring. Sitting in the high chair is also a fun time. Although Emerson often gets mad when I’m trying to buckle him in his car seat, he loves riding in the car or stroller. If he’s overtired, a quick walk in the stroller and he’s content as ever. I just started running with Emerson and I can’t wait for all the runs this spring! I’m sure Sage will be chasing us while pushing his lawnmower.
Sage is a great big brother and shows great care and concern for Emerson. Always wants to know “what’s baby doing?”. He knows how to make Emerson laugh now and that’s just the best thing. Of course there’s still some jealousy and if Sage wants our attention and Emerson has it, he’ll let us know that is not acceptable.
These two make us smile and laugh everyday and we just love them to pieces.
I think my next Sage update will be when he turns three this summer…oh my gosh, not ready. My baby is so big.
How was your week?
